This one disturbs me Legolas is all...dom.
GASP! it's not done in screentones. Oooh. (And it's elrond and legolas!!! o_o *disturbed much*)

I'm really not surprised that Aragorn and Legolas seem to be the most popular LotR couple. o_o
Googlism fun:
poop is fun
poop is where i draw the line
poop is not clean

In other news, today at work was FUN. The person who was supposed to be at the store two hours early to open mrs. fields (the one with the keys) decided not to show up. So, Alicia and I, showing up an hour before the mall opens like were supposed to, were locked out of the store. We had lots of fun getting a hold of someone to open the store for us. Yeah, fun.

I'm watching Goonies. Because Goonies never say die. We really need a new copy of this movie.

tomboy
What's your sexual appeal?

brought to you by Quizilla

*laughing hysterically* I'm so the MAN... errr, tomboy!
I made sushi rice today. Unfortunately, I got long grain rice instead of short grain on accident and it won't stick together. Anyway, I thought I'd share my very badly americanized, yet easy to make sushi rice recipe!

Firefly's Badly Americanized Sushi Recipe

Ingredients:

For rice:
One cup short-grain rice
One cup water (or however the package says to serve it)

For vinegar mix:
1 and 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar (try looking in the ethnic section or the salad dressing aisle)
1 tablespoon sugar
!/2 tablespoon salt

Topping:
Wasabi
See below for other suggestions

Directions:
Prepare one cup short grain rice. If you use long grain rice, you end up with it not sticking together. Now there's this whole process to making the rice, but I'm lazy so I just pop it in my rice maker. Honestly, I don't think it makes that much of a difference, so long as you don't add too much or too little water.

After you do that, mix 1 and 1/2 tablespoons rice vinegar with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 tablespoon salt. If you feel like getting fancy, boil the mixture until the sugar dissolves. Then cool it off really quick by putting the pot in a larger container of cold water. (This way, the vinegar doesn't distill.)

Mix rice and vinegar mix. Tada! Sushi rice.

Now, if that was a hideously murdered way to make sushi rice, you'll probably hate the way I actually make the sushi rolls. I don't like the taste of the seaweed much, so I just pat it into little balls. I could eat the rice balls plain 'cause they taste soooo good. ^.^

Anyway, I usually top them one of two ways. One, I pick up a bit of "sushi grade" fish, which you can usually find in the butcher shop in plastic wrap. Then you cut them into thin slices roughly the size of your rice balls. Put a bit of wasabi on one side and place the fish on the rice ball wasabi side down. If you've never tasted wasabi before, go easy! This stuff is spicy! Now you've probably made nigiri-zushi that would make any japanese person cringe.

Yet, there's an easier way to top your sushi! And this is my personal favorite because it's less messy. Pick up some cocktail shrimp at the grocery store - the pre-cooked stuff you can serve raw. Put wasabi on one side of the cocktail shrimpies and place it on the rice ball wasabi side down. If you made big rice balls, you can put more than one shrimp on.

Yeah, yeah. I know I'm butchering a Japanese favorite dish, yet it's rather easy to make this way and doesn't require ingredients that are too difficult to find.

We had nummy dinner tonight. We made oyako-donburi. It's a nummy chicken, onion, egg, soy sauce topping that goes over rice. Mmm, I love rice. So it was good. But I can still taste the onion.

Also, Rachel bought Lilo & Stitch. I love that movie. Lilo is cute and I want my own Stitch! XD

School was boring and unnoteable except for one fact. Before today, I had two papers due on Thursday. Now I have none. All of the due dates got pushed back to next week.

Oh yeah, and I read the part where they killed Simon in Lord of the Flies. I was really hoping they wouldn't kill him this time. It makes me sad. ;_;

I got my hair cut (so did Rachel) it's really short in the back now. I feel like a guy! Then I went grocery shopping. I spent $100 on groceries, which is mucho scary-o. Didn't get home until late and no on interesting is online. so I farted around all night on the internet, only to remember that I have a two-page paper to write for tomorrow. u_u;; I'm a brainiac. So I decide to spend time blogging. I don't know. I'm special. And a brainiac.

Working at the mall, I think it's needless to say that I had really long shifts all weekend. I'm tired and I hurt from rolling so many pretzels.

I played a really lame Harry Potter trivia game Saurday. (Sorry, it was lame, Sarah.) Harry Potter trivial pursuit woulda been better, but they had to go and complicate it.

I've recently got an odd obsession with burning myself. I don't know where that came from.

the end. I'm going to write a paper.
